Volcanic formations of stark beauty are the special
features of the 14 mile drive from Waikiki to Makapu Point where the windward
coast begins. Diamond Head, Hanauma Bay green seas in the horseshoe-shaped
crater, and a white beach lined with palm trees make Hanauma Bay Beach park
a tropical Eden and 1206 foot Koko Crater are extinct volcanoes formed
10,000 years ago, Koko head a promontory of crinkled lava, that extends
into the the sea beyond Hawaii Kai.
