My Ryang Sa Temple

The Mu-Ryang-Sa Buddhist Temple, formerly the Dae Won Sa Temple is located on a beautiful mountainside far up in Honolulu's Palolo Valley with its lovely view of the Pacific Ocean. Construction on the first temple building began in 1980. Decade after the temple changed name from Dae Won to Mu-Ryang-Sa, which mean "Broken Ridge Buddhist Temple". The meaning reflect the history of the temple within the context of meaning of Buddhism. During the temple's construction, it was discovered that roof of the main hall exceeded City and County height limitation. As a result , the roof was lowered to its present height.
