Akaka Falls

Akaka Falls, 442 feet high, and Kahuna falls 400 feet high is one of many waterfalls along the Hamakua coast of the island. The hike features a shady, half-hour walk along a paved path fragrant with tropical flowers and vines.  The stream has cut through a layer of ash to the more resistant lava below. As the falls retreat, they leave a deep gorge downstream. The fall was breath-taking. Bring your camera with you,  Akaka and Kahuna Falls are two impressive Hawaiian waterfalls.
